Testing out the bathing suit...

I bought this suit for Kirsten when she was a week old. We were buried under about 20 inches of snow and I was daydreaming about taking her to the pool this summer. And here we are, pools open this weekend the weather is amazing!

So of course we had to give the suit a test run. We also tried out our Monkey Doodlez swim diapers! I started my cloth diaper experience by thinking we would only use re-usable swim diapers... boy we have come so far!

Kirsten LOVES playoff hockey!

A little video of Kirsten going crazy over playoff hockey! Okay, maybe she wasn't laughing at the game, but she has Penguins socks on, that's close enough!

a new video

Kirsten has really been amazing me lately. I hate being that mom who thinks their child is advanced or gifted, but her development has been amazing.

Today Todd was cooking dinner so I placed her in her Summer Infant Super Seat and talked to her and jiggled some toys in her face. She did her usual looking around, not really paying attention to anything in particular, and some smiling. But then she started saying "oh!" and I repeated it back to her. I read in my books that babies learn best from repetition and "call response" type games. I started to say it back to her more and more and soon she would make a HUGE "o" with her mouth and say "OH!" It was amazing. At one point she said "oh" three times in a row, I said it, she repeated then giggled!!

I am really loving playing with her now. It has been so much more fun since she is focusing on things and starting to want to play, instead of eat/sleep/poop/repeat.

So here is the video!!!!

Baby Einstein dvds

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is my baby laying on the floor watching a Baby Einstein dvd. I kid you not, this is her enjoying a movie all by herself!

The movie is making sounds and she makes sounds right back to it. Her little arms and legs have not stopped moving, and she has yet to stop staring at the tv.

Did I start a bad habit??

I know tons of moms are against tv before the age of two. But personally I do not see the harm in it. She is reacting to the animals and sounds and seems to really be having a good time. I will not plop her infront of the tv every time I need a moment, but I do like the fact that she can be entertained by something. Something other than me bouncing her around or making silly faces! Mama needs a break sometimes!

These dvds basically rock. I love how they are set up and keep saying the names of things, and review what they just showed. The music is cute and the puppets are pretty funny. I can see them getting old very quickly... but for now they are pretty awesome!

I would love more suggestions for good videos!!!!
